My path towards the advertising industry wasn’t a straight one. As a teenager I thought that trying to work full time as an artist, didn’t feel very realistic. So I chose a media and communications course where, among other things, we were taught about product exposure and display design.
I might not be the most creative person, or the best designer, and I don’t come up with the most creative and crazy ideas. Instead, I think I’m the person who understands what the client is looking for, and comes up with more down-to-earth solutions. It is a strength and a weakness, because perhaps I don’t think outside the box as often as I could. But this is exactly what makes Ny Studio strong – we all have a different set of skills. But the best part about working here is that we get to laugh a lot. For most, work is probably just something they have to do in order to put food on the table. But we laugh – a lot.
I only had one front tooth until I was about 16.
Regardless of what you studied, or how long you’ve been working in a certain field, you can always change direction – and you should never feel like you’ve waisted your time. Because the experiences you gained will always be useful.
